Austin’s very own Andrew Miller, the maker of last year’s great C-Cup for the Canon C100 MKI, has dropped off a prototype eyepiece for the Panasonic GH4 and there’s a new company formed behind it: Miller & Schneider. Say hello to the G-Cup.
It’s pretty straight-forward: all you have to do is remove the eyepiece around the viewfinder that comes with the GH4 and slide the G-cup into the clip and it’s ready to go. Luckily it doesn’t mess with the functionality of the little sensor underneath so it knows to switch when you put your eye up to it. It really does add comfort and functionality to an already-nice viewfinder. The GH4’s glossy screen can be difficult to see in sunny or otherwise glare-y environs so this improves the versatility of the camera.
I also just tested it on the GH3 and it works perfectly so those of you who haven’t upgraded are still in luck. On top of all this, an early estimate of price is only about $35.
